Von Schroeder Fine Arts began dealing in contemporary art in 1984, as an independent division of Melbourne based Jonathan Interiors. In 1988 Christopher J. Von Schroeder, Director of Von Schroeder Fine Arts, became a personal agent for a number of artists. Agency artists are represented by galleries throughout Australia; Chapman Gallery Canberra, Michel Sourgnes Fine Arts Brisbane, Dick Bett Gallery Hobart, Wagner Gallery Sydney, to name just a few. Exhibitions are also shown in European Galleries. In 1992 Von Schroeder Fine Arts opened its own (purpose built) gallery in Tasmania, where works by renowned and emerging artists are on display.
On the gallery surroundings are studios for the artists in residence.
Von Schroeder Fine Arts curates and manages exhibitions for the private and corporate patrons.

Gallery is located on the Arthur Highway in Dunalley, on the only road from Hobart to Port Arthur. It is approximately 55km about 45mins drive.
